Safety
Openness needs protection
Love in Babylon is a considered Christian relationship community. Safety, dignity, privacy and accountability are designed into the member experience rather than added afterwards.
Our approach
Safety at Love in Babylon
We are building a community for people who date with intention, and that only works when members feel respected and protected. Our rooms are shaped so that connection unfolds at a considered pace, personal information stays in your control, and behaviour that undermines trust has consequences.
This page explains our approach in plain language. The full detail lives in our Community Guidelines, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Who joins
Membership Review
Membership is application-based. Applicants complete a considered profile and go through a review process before receiving full community access, and membership opens in measured waves so each room stays intentional.
Review helps us keep the community aligned with its purpose. It cannot guarantee any person’s character, intentions or safety, so your own discernment and boundaries still matter.
Your account
Identity & Account Safety
Members must represent themselves truthfully. We confirm your email address and our staff review every profile photograph by hand. We do not run automated identity checks, document checks or background checks, and no outside verification company is involved, so please do not treat any member as vetted beyond that. Where something looks inconsistent we may ask you about it directly.
- Impersonating another person is prohibited.
- Fake profiles and profiles created on someone else's behalf are prohibited.
- Deliberately misleading information, including about age, marital status or intentions, is prohibited.
- Keep your login details private and let us know if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
By design
Safer Connections by Design
The way our rooms work is itself a safeguard. Connection is paced, mutual and never forced.
- There is no unrestricted private messaging from the Courtyard; community conversation stays in the shared space.
- The Gathering provides structured, Host-led interaction rather than open-ended approaches.
- Table for Two only becomes available through the platform's mutual-interest process.
- Members control their own relationship decisions at every stage.
- No member should ever feel pressured to progress a connection, and stepping back is always a legitimate choice.
You can read more about how each space works on our Rooms page.
What we expect
Community Standards
Members are expected to treat one another with dignity and respect, in every room and in every private conversation.
The following are not permitted on Love in Babylon:
- Harassment, threats or intimidation.
- Hate speech or discrimination.
- Sexual misconduct, including unsolicited sexual content or advances.
- Manipulation, coercion or emotional pressure.
- Scams, financial requests and fraudulent activity.
- Exploitation or any abusive behaviour toward another member.
Accounts that breach these standards may be restricted or removed. The full expectations are set out in the Community Guidelines.
Speaking up
Reporting & Blocking
If something feels wrong, you do not need to be certain before you tell us. Signed-in members can report a profile, a Courtyard post, a Table for Two conversation or something that happened at a Gathering, and can block another member at any time. Blocking works both ways across the whole service, and the member you report is never told who reported them.
- Report from the Safety Centre, or directly from the profile, post or conversation you are concerned about; the context is attached for our staff.
- Blocking is silent and applies everywhere: neither of you will see the other's posts, profile or messages.
- You can see the status of every report you have made, and the members you have blocked, in your Safety Centre.
- If a decision goes against you, you can appeal from the same place.
Reports are read by a person, not an automated system. We do not operate round-the-clock human monitoring, so response times vary. If a situation is urgent or dangerous, please contact your local emergency services first.
Reporting, blocking and appeals live inside the member area. You will be asked to sign in first. Report a safety concern.
In person
Meeting Someone Offline
Meeting in person is a natural step. A few simple habits keep it a good one.
- Meet in a public place the first few times.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Arrange your own transport where possible, and keep a way to leave independently.
- Do not share financial information, account details or documents.
- Never send money because another member has asked, pressured or persuaded you to.
- Leave any situation that makes you uncomfortable; you do not owe anyone an explanation.
A gentle reminder
Faith Does Not Replace Safety
Shared faith is a beautiful foundation for a relationship, and it is why many members are here. It is not, on its own, evidence that someone is trustworthy.
Being part of a Christian community does not remove the need for personal boundaries, discernment and sensible precautions. Taking your time, asking questions and protecting your peace are consistent with faith, not contrary to it.
Urgent help
Emergency Situations
Love in Babylon is not an emergency service and cannot provide crisis or medical assistance.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services in your country or location straight away, and then tell us when you are safe to do so. Our community spans many countries, so please use the emergency number that applies where you are.
Reporting
We would rather hear from you early
If something does not feel right, tell us. Reporting and blocking are part of the member area; you will be asked to sign in, and the report goes straight to our safety staff.
